public appearances were a necessity for a man of gabriel's position. he was still working to secure the confidence of the people, despite being sworn in not too long ago. he didn't have the prestige of the other members, thus, he needed to make-up for it. so, when a man the size of an oak tree shows up, people take notice.

some approach, offering hand-shakes of congratulations, eager to get a picture or a word in with the councilman. he smiles, nodding dutifully, politely. through it all, he spots a familiar figure, cupping her face to ward against the cold. giving his excuse, he scates over, surprisingly nimble despite his titanic size.

Something big enough to block out the sun approaches from her good side. The woman glances, at first disinterested and fleeting, only to do a quick double-take. Her hands drop from her cheeks and her face is rosy with the cold. Surprise is written in the quirk of her brows and she looks him up and down.

"Is it safe for you to be out on the ice? For the rest of society, I mean?"

She smirks, keeping surprisingly steady on her skates in spite of her lack of experience. She can't slip up now, that'd be humiliating.

her comment wasn't unexpected. his own assistant expressed concerned for his safety, upon realizing where he was headed. instead, he chuckles, skating closer to the wall to steady himself.
